U.S. Strategy to Support Women and Girls at Risk From Violent Extremism and Conflict

This strategy counters violent extremism by equipping women and girls to become leaders in the fight against harmful ideologies.

Description

Women and girls are affected by harmful ideologies, both as victims of violence and as terrorist actors. This strategy counters violent extremism by empowering women and girls lead in the fight against extremism. 

The strategy aims to give women and girls the agency they need to address violent extremism. It also aims to build on best practices and localized approaches and analysis.

The following objectives are named in this strategy:

  1. Support women as effective leaders and participants in preventing and responding to terrorist radicalization. 
  2. Promote and protect the rights, safety, and inclusion of women and girls.
  3. Counter women’s roles in terrorism.
  4. Internal capacity building and coordination.
