Ending Child Marriage and Meeting the Needs of Married Children: The USAID Vision for Action

USAID seeks to address child marriage through key sectoral interventions, including promoting girls’ empowerment to enable girls and their families and communities to reject early marriage.

Description

USAID proposes actions to address child marriage and unions:

  • Cultivate partnerships locally;
  • Mobilize communities to shift norms that perpetuate child marriage; and
  • Address the unique needs of married children in programs.

USAID will focus its efforts on prevalence rates; disaster, instability, or political change that adversely affects women and girls; and investments by other stakeholders.
